A seven-day temporary storage service is offered for power banks banned on domestic flights, the Shanghai Airport (Group) Co Ltd announced on Thursday responding to China's civil aviation regulator's latest requirements on power banks onboard.

Both the Shanghai Pudong International Airport and the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport have stepped up inspection to seize substandard power banks in accordance to the new regulation. The power banks abandoned by passengers would be collected and handed over to qualified companies for dealing with the power banks professionally, said a notice from the Shanghai Airport (Group) on Thursday.

For those power banks not on the recalled list, the two airports have launched a seven-day temporary storage service as long as the power banks have clear information including brand, capacity and model, the announcement said.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China said in an emergency notice that power banks without a valid 3C certification, or bearing unclear 3C labels, or those on the recalled products list, are prohibited on domestic flights from June 28.
