Hong Lihe, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China, the country's top anti-corruption bodies announced on Friday.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision said that Hong has been placed under investigation for serious violations of Party discipline and national laws.

An investigation found that Hong violated the Party's anti-bureaucracy rules by organizing publicly-funded tours and accepting bribes to manipulate personnel appointments and business operations.

Hong also engaged in power-for-money and sex-for-favor exchanges, illegally held shares in private companies and abused his authority, causing "particularly heavy losses" to public interests, the statement said.

His case has been transferred to prosecutors, and his illicit gains have been confiscated, it said.
