Seven tourists trapped in unmanned areas in Mangya city in Northwest China's Qinghai province during this year's May Day holiday were successfully rescued, said the local police in an online statement.

According to the statement, a self-driving tourist contacted Mangya police on Sunday evening, reporting being stuck near the Altun Mountains while traversing the land route connecting Qinghai and the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. The tourist stated being very anxious due to signs of wildlife activity in the vicinity.

Responding to the call, a collaborative rescue effort was initiated by the police from Mangya city and Ruoqiang county in Xinjiang's Bayingolin Mongolian autonomous prefecture. After four hours of rescue efforts, the tourist was rescued.

In a separate incident, six cycling enthusiasts called the police on Friday morning, reporting getting lost in the deserted expanse of Lenghu town for 24 hours. Following an eight-hour search, all stranded cyclists were rescued. Although fatigued, they faced no life-threatening situations.

Local police emphasized the dangers of venturing into unmanned areas for tourism and issued a stern warning against trespassing in national natural reserves including the Altun Mountain National Nature Reserve.
