Beijing's Chaoyang district under observation after 2 new COVID cases emerge

Health authorities in Beijing's Chaoyang district have triggered an emergency response mechanism and launched an epidemiological investigation, a nucleic acid test campaign and placed some areas under strict control,after two children from the same family tested positive for COVID-19 in the preliminary screening.
Chaoyang district government revealed in its official WeChat account on Tuesday that the move aims to immediately block the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The district government was reported by Beijing's Tongzhou district center for disease control and prevention on Monday, after the two children who are living in Chaoyang district tested positive for the novel coronavirus, at Tongzhou Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital.
Meanwhile, Beijing reported a locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 patient on Monday, according to the city's health commission on Tuesday.
Beijing reported no local transmitted asymptomatic carriers and suspected cases on Monday.
The local confirmed case, who is living in the city's Haidian district, developed a fever on Sunday and arrived at a local hospital on Monday. The patient was detected to be a confirmed case after the person's nucleic acid testing result came out positive.
The patient has now been sent to a designated hospital for further medical observation and treatment.
