'Inhabiting the World' and 'the Yangtze River' exhibiting in Chengdu

Two art exhibitions are on exhibit in Sichuan's provincial capital, Chengdu.

These exhibitions are part of the program for the 2012 Festival Croisements, an annual China-France culture and arts festival.

Hosted by the France Consulate General in Chengdu, Institut Fran?ais and Chengdu Contemporary Art Museum, these exhibitions are open and free to the public until May 26 at the Chengdu Contemporary Art Museum, Tianfu Software Park Building C1.

The series named, "Inhabiting the World" presents photographs and video installations by Chinese artist, Zhang Xiaotao, and French filmmaker and visual artist, Pierre Coulibeuf.

The "Yangtze River" exhibition presented by Zeng Nian, Wu Song and Song Gang, has the theme, "Man and the River".

In recent years, Chengdu has welcomed both traditional and contemporary arts by frequently hosting exhibitions.

"The Picasso exhibition just concluded in Chengdu and the 2012 Festival Croisements' exhibition is coming. This indicates that Chengdu is increasing its cultural impact globally," said Tang Jiqiang, director of the strategic development planning bureau of the Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone. "We will organize more international cultural communications and create new avenues for industrial development and cultural upgrades."
