FUZHOU: A montage of colorful paintings on a 24 meter-long scroll has been created by a group of Chinese students as a tribute to Chinese migrants living and working overseas.

The montage was created during the "Love to Bridge Continents, Paintings to Celebrate the Year of Tiger" painting competition held at Fuzhou Normal University Art School Exhibition Hall. The montage celebrates the Year of the Tiger. It has been sponsored by The Western Union Company and organized by the Overseas Chinese News of Fujian.

Students from the Overseas Education School of Fujian Normal University participated in the scroll-painting campaign. Their core task was to visually capture their heartfelt greetings to their loved ones and also incorporate a symbolic icon of China.

Six winners will be rewarded for the most creative efforts. Many of the paintings will be profiled in overseas Chinese publications.

"Chinese New Year is a significant festive and cultural celebration and Western Union has made it possible for the children of migrant workers to capture their greetings and affection to their loved one's overseas through visual art and painting", said Amin Ng, Chief Representative of Western Union in China.

In recognition of the importance of education to a person's life, Western Union purposely chose the youth of China to become to the face of the campaign.

"They represent the future, and education provides a number of choices to pursue career options whether in China or overseas," said Ng.

Western Union collaborated with the Overseas Chinese News of Fujian (OCAF) to implement this campaign.
