Ports reach int'l health standard

All 15 international ports in operation in Northeast China’s Jilin province meet the requirements of the International Health Regulations 2005, according to a list unveiled by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine on Oct 17.

The 15 are Changchun airport, Yanji airport, Kaishantun road port, Sanhe road port, Nanping road port, Guchengli road port, Tumen railway port, Tumen road port, Huichun road port, Quanhe road port, Shatuozi road port, Hunchun railway port, Changbai road port, Linjiang road port and Ji’an railway port.

The ports have improved their abilities in terms of public health risk pre-warning and emergency response, infection control and anti nuclear, biochemical terrorism, health security, health and quarantine technical support and international travel health services.

Local authorities also said they would make more effort to promote the image and brand of Chinese ports, ensure traveler safety, improve the ports’ international competitiveness, facilitate customs clearance and help local economic growth by upgrading the core abilities of the ports.
