The May Day holiday generated tourism revenue of 2.8 billion yuan ($454.4 million), a year-on-year growth of 27.45 percent. A total of 7.45 million tourists visited Guizhou, a year-on-year growth of 25.01 percent.

Guizhou promoted its colorful image as a "National Park Province" at the 2013 China Travel Market held this April. More and more people recognized Guizhou as a travel destination during the holiday.

Most visitors were driving travelers or solo travelers this May Day, hailing from Chongqing, Sichuan, Guangxi, Hunan and Yunnan provinces.

Tourists still favored traditional spots, such as Huangguoshu Waterfall, the ancient town of Zhenyuan, the Seven Holes of Libo, Miao Village, Mount Fanjing, Chishui, and the Site of the Zunyi Conference.
