More than 250 prize-winning works were showcased at the award ceremony of the Cross-Straits Teenagers Aerospace Painting Competition recently held in Xiamen, Fujian province.

With the theme of exploring the moon, the competition received more than 4,000 works from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, 965 of which won awards after being reviewed and voted by experts and 2.56 million netizens.

Hong Xiangping from Jimei Campus of Xiamen No 1 High School was rewarded with a special award in the high school group.

As a native Xiamen resident, Hong pictured a spaceship which carries Xiamen's city flower Bougainvillea glabra, city tree Delonix Regia, and egrets (the city is also nicknamed Egret Island) to the moon.

Lost In Space drawn by Xie Qingfan, a fifth grader from a Taiwan primary school, received the special award of the primary school group, which depicted the life of creatures living in the moon.

It is the second time that the Cross-Straits Teenagers Aerospace Painting Competition has been organized.

Its participants were divided into two groups: high school participants (aged 5 to 12) and primary school participants (aged 13 to 16). They were required to submit an original picture drawn by themselves according to a specified theme and attach it with a brief description.
