2015-02-11

By Li Lan, Institute for Public Administration and Human Resources, Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC)

Research Report No 11, 2015 (Total 4696)

Abstract:

This is the second part of report on a 2014 Survey of Chinese Enterprise Operators, involving 2,446 business people, which found that although the macro-economy and micro-business operations were stable, many companies ran into difficulties and challenges, including rising costs, increasing burdens, and serious overcapacity in some industries. To deal with these problems and challenges, a majority of the operators say they will improve management to deal with increased costs, in addition to upgrading and getting into new industries, attracting more talented people, renewing facilities, and investing more in R&D. They also say they hope the Chinese government to carry out reforms, especially in fair competition, developing a better credit system and improving law enforcement. In addition, they expect the government to speed up functional transformation, reduce administrative fees, exams and approvals, and encourage company vitality and an economic development dynamic to provide a better external environment for company transformation and restructuring.
