Japan's New Patent Law: Employees' Patents Belong to Enterprises

On July 3, the Upper House of Japanese Parliament Plenary Session passed the new Patent Law, permitting that enterprises could hold the patents employees invented at work after they inform employees of the employment regulations.

The law also regulates that the patent inventor should have the right to be rewarded with economic benefits, which requires enterprises to further improve the rewarding mechanism.
