2005年國際乒聯(lián)巡回賽總決賽12月11日晚圓滿落幕。在中國女雙、男雙和男單選手相繼出局后，孤軍奮戰(zhàn)的張怡寧今晚不負(fù)眾望，在女單決賽中以4比0輕松戰(zhàn)勝目前世界排名第三的新加坡選手李佳薇，第三次登上了巡回賽總決賽的冠軍領(lǐng)獎臺。

句中的wildcard照字面來解釋，就是“野外的一張卡”，不過，這樣來解釋讓人太費(fèi)解。其實，wildcard 是體育比賽中的一個術(shù)語，叫做“外卡”，指的是比賽中給予不具參賽資格選手的特殊參賽權(quán)。
例如：The wild-card player surprised everyone by winning the championship。（那位外卡選手跌破眾人的眼鏡，贏得了冠軍。）
