Mrs. Leuis是一個剛剛動完手術(shù)的病人,在一次給她發(fā)放麻醉止痛藥時, 她看著藥片說道: “This is a horse pill.” 我以為她認(rèn)為我發(fā)錯了藥,就連忙解釋道: “This is not a horse's pill, This is your pain pill which doctor prescribed.” Mrs. Leuis笑著對我說她知道這是她的止痛藥,而她所說的 “a horse pill”是指這種藥片太大了。我們中國人把人形容為人高馬大,沒想到美國人卻把大藥丸比作“馬片”。
