Economic cooperation, cyber security and the issue of Korean Peninsula will top the agenda when Chinese President Xi Jinping sits down this weekend in California with US President Barack Obama for their first meeting since the two countries had their leadership transitions.

Other topics such as territorial disputes in the Asia-Pacific region and military actions of the two countries in the region also will be discussed, senior Obama administration officials said Tuesday.

The two days of private meetings are scheduled to begin Friday evening at Sunnylands, a 200-acre estate in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The schedule also includes a private dinner on Friday followed by additional talks on Saturday morning.

A White House official said the talks would not necessarily bear any fruit but aim to be frank and pragmatic. "The two leaders will focus on exchanging issues of mutual concern and finding out ways of future cooperation," the official said.
