Chinese ballet performance leaves Cairene audience in awe


During the curtain call, Chinese dancers performed a dance featuring Egyptian elements, to the theme song of a popular Egyptian TV series written by veteran composer Omar Khairat.
Egyptian ballet dancer Hany Hassan, who also directs the small theater of the Cairo Opera House, said he was excited to see the differences between classical ballet and Chinese ballet demonstrated in such a remarkable show.
On the evening of June 18, a lecture and demonstration themed “Ballet in China” was given by Feng Ying, artistic director and head of the National Ballet of China, and some of the company’s dancers, at the China Cultural Center in Cairo.
The event was hosted by the center in collaboration with the Network of International Culturalink Entities and the National Ballet of China.
