China and the European Union have agreed to make joint efforts, based on the principle of mutual benefit, to lay a solid foundation for advancing this year's key bilateral agenda, said the Ministry of Commerce.

They also agreed to promote the sound, stable and sustained development of bilateral economic and trade relations, said the ministry in an online statement after Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao held a video conference with European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic on Thursday.

The two sides conducted in-depth, professional consultations on trade-remedy cases, including the EU's anti-subsidy investigation into electric vehicles, as well as on export controls, market access and other economic and trade matters, said the statement.
