The 2025 China Tourism Day (Hangzhou) campaign and Grand Canal Cultural and Tourism Consumption Season opened at Wulin Square in Gongshu district on May 19, offering locals and tourists a vibrant cultural tourism experience.

The launch featured blind box recommendations of scenic countryside trails and ancient paths, ideal for weekend getaways. Gongshu also unveiled tourism gift packs, including summer accommodation vouchers offering discounts of up to 30 percent as well as over 30 other offers covering performances, hotels, dining, and cultural experiences.

Tourism ambassador and top guide Hu Nana introduced four themed maps promoting immersive Grand Canal experiences — including everything from cultural landmarks and museums to tea tours and street food. The district also advanced its 15-minute quality cultural life circles, building 114 cultural hubs such as book houses and community spaces.

A special dance showcase presented 19 original and adapted grassroots performances, reflecting locals' deep passion for culture and creativity.

The Good Luck Market drew crowds with over 70 Gongshu-based stalls showcasing intangible cultural heritage items, creative crafts, and canal-themed foods. Highlights included traditional kites, bamboo weaving, silk, fans, and canal-inspired desserts.

The event also promoted inbound tourism with digital innovations and instant tax refund services, enhancing Hangzhou's global cultural appeal and driving growth in the sector integrating culture, tourism, and technology.
