The exhibition A Journey of Knowledge – Marco Polo and His Legacy Between East and West opened at the China Design Museum on the China Academy of Art Xiangshan Campus in Hangzhou on May 8.

The exhibition is a key event commemorating the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death and marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Italy. It is the third stop in a global series and holds special significance in promoting cultural exchange between the two nations.

The exhibition features 84 rare artifacts spanning the 13th to 20th centuries, on loan from 11 Italian cultural institutions. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics, glassware, jewelry, and textiles.

Presented through the perspective of Marco Polo and his fellow explorers, the exhibition recreates the epic adventures along the Silk Road. The section The World Along the Silk Road serves as the core, blending romance and historical reality to portray the rich cultural tapestry of the East. It also highlights the enduring impact of East–West exchanges inspired by Polo's journey.

The exhibition runs through the end of July.
