Air China, the country's national flag carrier, has marked 60 years of safe operations on its Lhasa route, one of the world's highest-altitude and most challenging aviation corridors, the airline said.

Since launching the route in 1965, Air China has logged more than 140,000 safe takeoffs and landings, transporting over 18 million passengers. The milestone represents the longest continuous record of safe flight operations in the region, according to the airline.

Air China first connected Xizang on March 1, 1965, with the maiden flight of the Beijing-Chengdu-Lhasa route. Today, the carrier operates nine routes serving the region, with 111 weekly flights linking Xizang to dozens of destinations, supporting the expansion of China's civil aviation network.
