Shuhei Aoyama, a Japanese architect who has worked in Beijing for eighteen years and has been constantly inspired to engage in old town renovations and urban renewal, has given Beijing a new look.

He sees Beijing as a dynamic city with various opportunities for young people, and as a canvas upon which he can unleash his creativity. Shuhei Aoyama hopes that his creations become places for people to stop and linger while on their city walk.

Shuhei Aoyama is also fascinated by Beijing's hutongs and the local people's lifestyle. "We can see that people living in hutongs have their own wisdom and creativity," he says.
