Cargo flight opens between Guangzhou, NY

A China Southern Airlines cargo plane carrying more than 90 metric tons of e-commerce goods landed in New York at 11:52 pm on Thursday after it took off from Guangzhou Baiyun Inernational Airport, marking the official launch of the Guangzhou-New York cargo flight route.
The route uses a Boeing 777 model, according to a statement released by China Southern Airlines, one of three major airlines in China, on Friday.
The round-trip between Guangzhou and New York will operate three times a week, helping promote the cross-border e-commerce industry between the world's two largest economies and further improving the layout and structure of the cargo route network.
It expands air transportation channel between the city clusters of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and cities around New York, the statement said.
Meanwhile the air cargo route will provide strong support for promoting high-level opening-up and ensuring the stability and smooth flow of global industrial and supply chains.
