The Belt and Road initiative, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, will bring opportunities to Ningxia Hui autonomous region, an inland region in Northwest China, according to an official.

Ma Hancheng, member of the 14th National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, had an interview with China Daily website when the country's political advisory body convened for its annual session.

Besides Belt and Road initiative, Ma, a member of the standing committee of Ningxia's CPC committee and chief of united front work department of Ningxia's CPC committee, also mentioned the China-Arab States Expo as an important event that will help the region advance with trade.

Ma also promoted local tourism and cuisines during the interview.
