A cluster of COVID-19 infections has been identified in Beijing's Yanqing district, officials said at a meeting on Monday.

The cluster, linked to people who had completed quarantine after returning from overseas, was a warning that more attention should be paid to preventing imported cases. The community is an important basis for epidemic prevention and control, according to the meeting of leading work group on COVID-19 control and prevention in Beijing on Monday.

Beijing reported three new locally transmitted confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, the city's Health Commission said on Tuesday.

During the nucleic acid tests conducted on groups at high risks of infection on Monday, a person who had completed quarantine after returning from overseas tested positive for the virus, local media reported. Two close contacts of that person were then found positive.

All three cases — people living at the Commune at the Great Wall in Yanqing — were confirmed on Monday.

The hotel has been classified as a high-risk area for COVID-19, and three areas in Yanqing, including two restaurants and a shopping mall, have been adjusted to medium-risk.
