Couriers, online food delivery staff and housekeepers in Beijing are eligible for up to 100,000 yuan ($15,430) from the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, local authorities said on Tuesday.
Special-purpose insurance funds, guaranteed for a year, were designed for the "new workforce". After joining a trade union, they will benefit from the mutual assistance funds if they or their children are diagnosed with diseases or become disabled in an accident.
As of Tuesday, more than 4,000 workers have registered for the special guarantee, according to the federation.
