Glittering statue debuts in Suzhou bookstore

A 4.7-meter-high hollow statue with a graduate's cap and gown appeared in Eslite Bookstore in Suzhou, Jiangsu province on Nov 4. The work is made of steel and consists of more than 15,000 laser-engraved letters, numbers and symbols. If visitors flip the pages of the bookshelf underneath, the "doctor" will glitter. The statue is a cross-border innovation of "Art + Education", aimed at "awakening" the public's awareness and enthusiasm for learning. [Photo by Song Li/Asianewsphoto]
