SAN FRANCISCO - A 16-year-old boy was killed and an 18-year-old critically injured in a shooting that occurred near a high school in the San Francisco Bay Area in the US state of California Friday evening, police said.

Fairfield police have arrested two suspects from the shooting in an area near Armijo High School in Fairfield, a city in Solano County. The school has been locked down for security reasons, the police told local TV news outlets.

One of the suspects was detained from a group of students in a gym of the high school where about 500 students were evacuated after the gun battle, the police said.

A statement from the Fairfield Police Department said there are no additional suspects wanted and no threat to the school and the neighborhood.
